It's Christmas Eve

My granddaughter having fun in the snow!!
She is sooo cute!

I can't believe we have had a whole year go by us. I am never ready for Christmas. I hate that. My resolution for the new year is to become better organized. That is my new goal. I have become better at being on time for things which was a past goal. It's pretty easy to do when things are eliminated which cause less time.

I did not find what I was shopping for last night. So I ended up getting something else instead. Not really that happy with the whole shopping experience but hey what can ya do? Improvise.

I never got my Christmas cards done. I didn't get many cards this year as I have in the past years. What is a Christmas card anyway? Why do people send cards saying Merry Christmas? Is it something that a person came up with to make money on? I am on a mission now to find out how sending a Christmas card all started. So if anyone out there knows anything please let me in on it. Instead of making cards I made homemade Mounds candy. It took me like four hours. I will never make them again. I got the recipe off someones blog. I like the store bought Mounds Bars better. I just hope the people I give to will enjoy them. I will send out a card to family and friends in my life.

It will just be a Wish for a Happy and Blessed New Year card.

Wow ....just two days ! I am not ready.

Merry Christmas from
our warm cozy living room to yours.
Last night I had a fire going and Pippy really like it.
She is our fun Mainecoon Kitten. She came to live with us
this spring. I have to finish putting ornaments on the tree.
I also need to finish my Christmas cards.

All I want for Christmas . . . 'ummmm? But first..

These two girls are the cutest! Then they grew up and are surely Daddy's little girls!
This is the proud Dad with our cute daughters all gown up. I luv this picture of them.

Random:
Hey, I made my list and I hope it was checked at least once. But what I want is for the bills to be paid and not set aside just so we can have gifts under the tree. I hate that cuz then after Christmas when the bills are behind and the oil tank needs to be refilled the dh gets grumpy when he can't seem to get caught up. Really.

I have been eyeing the New Making Memories Slice. Then I saw it on sale for $99 at A.C. Moore craft store. They sold out fast, so I was told. Now I have been on Ebay watching for one but people are bidding way over what they should be. I thought of this great idea. If everyone would take their turn and bid like a reasonable price then we could all share in lower prices instead of acting like if they don't bid they won't get one. It's like a mad craze to own one. I think it is way over priced for what it can actually do. It really is limited as to what the Quickcuts Silluette. Check it out over at TwoPeasinabucket site. There is a video demo. This machine is awesome. And Kristina has a kool vid on her blog showing how she uses it with her software.

Maine Winter Scenes

These are a few photos I have taken of some past winters here in Poland, Maine

Forcast for Maine tomorrow is Snow!
I am just glad it's not freezing rain.
Hope you Enjoy!

I can barely see out my kitchen window.

My yard is full of SNOW!

Looking up the road from my driveway going north.

These trees are across the road from me and were very pretty with the color of the sky .

Looking south this is what my road looks like after a snow storm.

These icicles were hanging off the roof of my house. Sure sign of heat loss. pretty in the sunshine.

SNOWMAN

I luv snowmen. They are one of the cutest of many decorations of winter. It brings back good memories of the times my sister and I would trudge thru the new fallen sticky snow to build the perfect snowman. But it was sad when he melted away.

I say , after I get a snowman for my collection, I have enough snowmen. Then there is always that one that is cuter than the last one.

Snowball the Cat

Snowball is trying to escape out the window.

When the girls had Barbie dolls and some of the dolls heads would break off he would find them and run away with it . He looks like he has a beard. Plus he is deaf and has one blue eye and one yellow eye. He is quite a character. Now he steals our clothes and drags shirts or towels around the house. One day I caught Snowball dragging one of my bras into the kitchen. The girls use to dress him up in doll clothes.

Some Cards Creations to Share

First photo up is of my Christmas stamps which I have set out on shelves. I needed to have inspiration around in plain view to be creative when I start making Christmas cards. I also decorated with a Christmas theme to put me in the Christmas mood. Next photo I posted a Thankyou card I created.
This card I created for Mother's Day.

Another Mother's Day card I created. With this one I cut out a flower I found on a gift card.

Messy scrapspace!

Before......

And during the process......

I have been working on my craftroom and have it almost organized. I will be so glad when I get it done. It is a long process of weeding things out which I don't use. I even created my very first layout. I got an ispiration for my layout from a greeting card.

I have been very busy having so many different projects going on at the same time. If I get bored with one I jump to the next. I want them all done but cannot seem to stay focused. I did finally get my yellow tulips planted by the mailbox. I can't wait to see them in the spring. The moles better leave them alone. I think I will plant the pretty pink ones in a planter box just incase the moles get hungry and find the bulbs in the ground. It feels like it's going to rain tonight or tomorrow so inside projects will be tended to tomorrow. I have been organizing my craft room so I will have a nice place to do my card making and get started on my scrapbooking. I do have to focus on creating a card for my brother. He just had an operation and could use some encouragement on his healing time. Time to get making Christmas cards also. I love making cards.

I got a couple new Martha Stewart craft punches this past weekend. A butterfly and fir tree branch. One for all occasions and the branch to do up some cards with a wreath.

I have some pics of my sweet granddaughter dressed up in her lamb costume. She is the cutest little lamb I have ever seen.

BIG Background Stamps

I am trying to find the video on line that shows how to use the first Sizzix Die Press (the old one that just presses on the die and doesn't roll the die in to cut) to press a large wood background stamp. I saw this video somewhere on a site and now that I bought the die cutter I can not find the video showing how it is done. When you press the stamp with the Sizzix Press it makes the image evenly stamped on the cardstock. So PLEASE is there is anyone out there that can tell me where to find this video I would greatly appreciate it. Thankyou.

Quick Chocolate Cake in a Mug Recipe

MOST DANGEROUS CAKE RECIPE IN THE WORLD
5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
a small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well.
Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you care to share).
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!
Hints: Use a LARGE cup! Spray with Pam, or lightly grease, just in case! It's also been reported that the chocolate chips may go to the bottom, so choose to use, or not.

Thursday Afternoon

I am going to miss these Brown Eyed Susans. They have been with me all summer. They grow wild all over the place here. They pop-up just anywhere.

Next picture is my cat Fred. He loves to curl up and take a nap in the basket tote I made by hand. Next is Mr Maine Lobster my husband brought home for us to feast on. I think it should of been thown back to the ocean. The meat was not all that great. It was tough and so the lesson on this experience is that big is not always good. The medium size is the best texture and taste. Besides I did not even have a pot BIG enough to cook it in. I took the picture with it sitting next to my teenage daughter's size 8 foot.

Next is a card I made for my daughter on her birthday. I used Hero Arts stamp set and layered them on an embossed white card stock. I used the Happy Birthday embossing folder from the Cuttlebug collection. I love my Cuttlebug.

Time for Fun At The Country Fairs

fRIED dOUGH! Country fAIR time.

More pics from the Fryeburg Fair. It's rare that I can get my husband to let me take his picture. He is enjoying the company of our new Son-In-Law. I'm waiting for my fried dough. Our daughters are on one of the rides.

A NEW SEASON

This is a beautiful natural color scheme arranged by God. The trees are mirrored along the edge of waters of Upper Range Pond. Myself, I would rather see just green leaves on the trees. Today the wind is blowing and the leaves are falling off and blowing all over the place. The last Fair, which is the Fryeburg Country Fair, is ending this Sunday. At least I still can open a window and not freeze to have fresh air.

What Is A Greeting Card?

It's a little piece of paper that tells someone you care.
It can be a ray of sunshine.
It can be a wish or a prayer.

It can simply say "I love you" or just say I understand.
It can be a little visit or the clasp of someone's hand.
It can be a word of comfort when someone's heart is sad.
It can be a smile or chuckle making someone's heart feel glad.

It can keep folks close together even though they're far apart.
It can show someone you're thankful from the bottom of your heart.

It can travel any distance in all kinds of weather too.
And it does the something magic that some big things never do.

Yes, it's just a piece of paper and it costs no big amount.
But it prooves that old saying, "It's the little things that count."

Tuesday July 22

It is day two of the new driver. Cassie is really doing well learning to drive. She drove to work and then I went to visit my other daughter Tonya and granddaughter Leah. Leah is a very sweet just like her Mommy and Daddy. She was eating her cereal and banana. She is so cute just like her Mommy.

Monday July 21, 2008

Today I took my daughter to take her test for a driver's permit. She passed it and to celebrate I let her drive part of the way home. It was fun teaching her to drive my car. She did super for her first time driving on the road. Now I have a chauffer to drive me around.

Wedding Day July 13th

My daughter got married yesterday. She was very beautiful in her wedding gown. It's hard to believe she is now a married women. But she has a good husband. It makes me feel at peace to know that she will be happy with him. They have a new house they will be residing in and was suppose to be getting a puppy today to add to the family. The wedding ceremony was outdoors by the gazebo and fountain at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester. Then off to the garden for pictures. The wind was very strong so everyones hair was windswept. They road to the reception in the limo with her Dad and I. I got blisters oin my feet from dancing. They had a DJ playing music and good food served by Maggie and Russ Brady. All four of my daughters were in the bridal party along with my grandchildren.

Monday Monday

Well this is the day after Father's Day. I have a card to post which I created to give to my hubby. I created it from scratch and that's was not easy. I have a hard time making cards in a masuline theme. I love bling and glitz and frills and lace etc.. So do guys like any of that stuff? I think I need an idea book for masculine cards. I just might think about creating such a book. ? Or does anyone out there know of such a book or magazine?
Busy weekend, it was. It is hard to be creative when life gets busy. I went fishing with my husband and daughter. My other engaged to be married daughter and her future hubby went with us for the great adventure. We have a hard time finding good fishing holes around here. You wouldn't think so to be living in Maine huh? Too many houses are taking over the beautiful countryside. I bet more than half of the houses that are in Maine are not lived in. That is so sad. I would love to have my own house. I would not build one, I would buy one that is already built.
My daughter and future son-in-law just signed papers and officially own a house. They are so happy. I can't wait to go see it for the first time tomorrow. I will be busy helping them paint. It needs a lot of TLC. But that way they can make it look the way they want it to look. I have to get ready for work so ta-tah for now. Have a happy creative week.

My Daughter's 18th Birthday!

Sorry I have been neglecting my blog. This is an update to what has been going on with our family. I have a new baby kitty. She is soooo cute. My hubby named her Pippie. She is half Maine Coon Cat and something else. I will post a pic. My other cat plays all the time a bit too ruff I think, sometimes I break it up. I have been creating cards left and right. I made a quick card for my daughter's friend. She graduated. I made a card for my daughter cuz she turned 18! She just finished her last day of school today. She is looking for a job now. She will also be working towards her drivers permit. Lucky me I get to teach her how to drive. Yay. Summer Vacation time. Now I can take a break after I get her grades in. I homeschooled her this year cuz our High School has a bad grading system. Plus the school leadership does not enforce the rules.

So here is some pics. The first one is for her 18th and the second one was for her 17th.

TODAY IS NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY!

I am searching different websites and blogs for fun contests and ideas. I just saw someone I know over on the Making Memories forum. She is the one who brings us PaperClippingsLive. I love that show. I also want to visit the local scrapbook store today.

Birthday Card with/gift card embellishment

This card I made for my husband back in March. I found this gift card at Target and loved it cause it makes a nice masculine embellishment for cards. I wrote in his birthdate at the top spaces and used brads and put the word Special rub-on above the card. I used a heart staple to attach the circle with love ya on top of another circle to cover the Target icon.

Thanks for looking.

The Bird Card

This is the bird card I made for Hero Arts contest they ran last week. But I didn't get it finished in time for the judging. :(
I got a new Fiskers Border Punch this past Sunday at Joann Fabrics store. It was on sale. love it. I was going to get the Martha Stewart border punch at Michaels but I took it out the package and tried to punch with it and it would not punch the card stock paper that I had in the car. So I took it back in and returned it. So I got bottles of glitter instead. I finally found a Uniball Signo white pigment ink pen for 2.99 at the local scrapbook store called Memory Lane Pages.
I looked for a white Sharpie but no luck. I was looking for a bird stamp for my Hero Arts card entry but in all the stores around me I didn't find one. I know I could get one online but I really don't want to pay s/h if I can help it. So I used the template they had on their blog. The card had to have at least one Hero Arts stamp and I used the Happy Birthday tag stamp from Message Tags Set. I stamped it in different colors to choose which one looked best with everything else.

My Creation for My daughters Birthday

I gave my daughter this card for her 21st Birthday and she told me she didn't like getting cards from me cause she couldn't throw them away :) Thats funny.

I first stamped flower images on the cardsock for the bottom strip and embossed with clear embossin powder. Then I attached the ribbon underneath it at the edge and then attached it along the bottom edge of the white cardstock. Then I stamped the flowers and the Word stamps from Hero Arts for the stems on clear acrylic with Stazon black ink. I attached the is the top of the white cardstock and then the colored circle paper over that at the top also. Then I tied the ribbon in a bow over the transparent paper. Ta Da! Quick and easy card to make.

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend.

What got you to do your first Layout?

Hi everyone,
It's really beginning to look like Spring has Sprung here in Poland Spring! Yay!

I have not made one scrapbook page as of yet. I do not know what I am waiting for. I have been to so many scrapbooking blogs to get my inspiration fueled plus my idea books. Still no layout in my album. I have a ton of pictures to use. I even went to see my beautiful granddaughter on Saturday and took quite a few pictures so I could use them and still no page. What am I waiting for? I guess it's because I am a perfectionist and everything has to be perfect. I hate that about me. I wish I could just dive in and scrap.
I went to PaperclippingsLive and was trying to learn how someone else does it. I learned how to make what she calls a Fred. It is metal and stands up with magnets holding your page and your elements so you have more table space. I made my own. I went to the craft store and got some post magnets for a metal book holder I purchased a few years ago for holding my cross-stitch patterns. But, oh ya I remember what I used to set it on. I have a wooden stand upstairs in the closet. That would be perfect to hold my page on. It won't even be setting on my table and be stomped on by my cat. He likes to jump up on to my work space and one by one takes his little paw and deliberately knocks everything off the edge so I will pay attention to him. Cats are really smart. That's a whole other subject. (Fred my Crazy Cat)
So now I need a push into the action of scrapbooking. I don't know what kind of push it will be but one of these days watch out, I will design a layout for all to see. Got any ideas how to just take the plunge? I am open to suggestions.
I went to the craft store and purchased a Cricket but it is just sitting there collecting dust. It makes me sick to have spent so much money on a tool that is not being used. Maybe I will sell it on craigslist? I don't know. I got the Cuttlebug and love it. I do use that and have learned alot of different techniques to use with it. I love making cards. I have many rubber stamps to use and a few ink pads. I love what people have done with the new Spellbinders Nestibilities.
I have crammed my supplies in a small space and haven't figured out how to get everything organized. That has been a work in progress. Maybe that is what is holding me back? Ya think? I have never been to a class for any of this and try to teach myself from the Internet. Maybe after writing this I will have talked myself right into the plunge.
I would love to design a layout and post it in a contest. I said I was going to do that over on the Hero Arts Blog and Creating Keepsakes Blog. I was too wrapped up in reading other peoples blogs and looking at what they created that by the time I was inspired I was too tired to start anything. I got an idea. Maybe if I just pencil it in on my calendar a day to organize and then a day to scrap? Maybe that just might work? Plus give myself a deadline to have one posted on my blog.
